Pope Benedict XVI in UK for historic visit, meets Queen in Scotland

I love the part where the bishop tries to slip him his glasses.     ;-D The Holy Father is like, "I'm just going to ignore this gesture, can't you see I'm not blind!!" lol :)

Pope offers condolences, prayers for Polish people after plane crash :: Catholic News Agency (CNA)

From the Catholic News Agency:

Vatican City, Apr 10, 2010 / 11:29 am (CNA/EWTN News).- The Holy Father expressed his sorrow over the death of Polish President Lech Kaczynski and those accompanying him on a flight to Russia on Saturday morning. Pope Benedict remembered all of those who died and implored "a special blessing to the people of Poland from God omnipotent."

According to CNN, President Kaczynski, his wife, top members of the Polish government, army and several Church authorities were on the plane that went down just seconds from landing at the airport of Smolensk, Russia. The aircraft apparently clipped some trees with a wing as it made its way through heavy fog. Reports vary on the number of people on the plane, but counts run from 89 to 132 people, none of whom survived.

The delegation was headed to the small village of Katyn, a few kilometers from Smolensk, in a landmark visit to observe the 70th anniversary of the execution of more than 20,000 Polish officers during World War II.

Pope Benedict XVI wrote in his telegram to the acting President of the Polish Parliament, Bronislaw Komorowski, that it was with "profound sorrow" that he learned of the deaths of those who were on their way to Katyn.

He remembered the president, the exiled ex-president of the Republic Ryszard Kaczorowski, Army chaplain and Bishop Tadeusz Plozki, Orthodox Archbishop Miron Chodakowski and Evangelical military pastor Adam Pilsch by name.

He entrusted all of the victims of the crash "to the goodness of merciful God" and prayed, "May He take them into his glory."

To the families of the dead and to all Poles he sent his "sincere condolences" and assured his them of spiritual closeness.

"In this difficult moment," he closed, "I implore for all the people of Poland a special blessing of God omnipotent."

Pro-life activist and business owner murdered in Michigan

On 9/11, a day which we should be remembering the tragic events that occurred in 2001...another tragic event occurred. Not only was this man killed, but another lost his life as well prior to Jim Pouillon being murdered. Please pray for these victims, and more importantly pray for the man who killed them. May his heart be turned toward Jesus! Please though, say a quick prayer for all involved if you are reading this.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed Art thou among women,
and Blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners,
Now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Holy Mary watch over us!

USCCB Launches Website Concerning Health Care

If any of you have been following the latest in the cause for life and the current bill in congress right now, you'll want to know that America is fighting. This bill is facing one of the most heated debates in a long time, thanks pro-life Americans as well as our pro-life senators and representatives in congress. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops released a new website today in opposition to the bill's pro-abortion segments. The website is aimed at providing valuable information as well as proposing what should be done regarding Health Care in the US.

The Health Care Reform Bill that has been presented by the President which includes abortion funding by taxpayers, will be mandated for everyone in the US. That means you would have no choice in supporting abortion through your taxes. Among other horrifying aspects of the bill, such as patient rationing, the worst is the attack on the unborn. The language of the bill is certainly rather underhanded and deceitful. They never word it as funding for killing a baby, and the word abortion is stealthily avoided.
